Salary / TRCA
GDS employees are paid emoluments in the form of Time Related Continuity Allowance (TRCA). The notification also provides for an annual increase of 3%, subject to the applicable conditions.

GDS employees are also entitled to applicable Dearness Allowance and certain other allowances and social-security benefits according to the GDS Rules.
Educational Qualification
Candidates must have passed the Secondary School Examination (10th Standard) with passing marks in Mathematics and English from a recognized Board of School Education.

- Manage day-to-day postal operations of the Branch Post Office.

Working Hours & Service Conditions
GDS are not regular employees of the Central Government. They are holders of Civil Posts outside the regular civil services and are governed by the Gramin Dak Sevaks (Conduct and Engagement) Rules, 2020.
A GDS is required to work for a minimum of 4 hours and a maximum of 5 hours per day, subject to the applicable rules and requirements of the Department.
